Shell out more for shellac

Look! It’s an acrylic, no a gel, oh no: it’s a nail shellac! If you’re anything like me, you hate it when your nails chip, especially the day after a hard earned manicure. I’ve always just accepted nail chippage as a fact of life, as I expect my flat iron to give me split ends. The answer to this somewhat age-old problem has always been either acrylics or gels, both of which are costly, timely, and harsh on your natural nail.

Recently Creative Nail Design has released a hybrid between a polish and a gel; it’s whole line of colored nail shellac powered by UV technology. I watched first hand as Janet, our fearless leader took off an adorable pink polish in just ten minutes and had a lovely French manicure applied. It goes on like a polish but requires a UV lamp to secure the flawless technology.

Janet had been wearing the pink shellac for a week and half but appeared to have just been done the day before. I was hooked. All it took to remove the polish was a self-adhesive cotton wrap. After ten minutes in the wrap, the rest of the polish could easily be chipped off, leaving your nail stronger than before.
